Scale Securely with Role-Based Access Control

As your data team grows, "everyone is an admin" becomes a security bottleneck. You need the flexibility to let developers build without giving everyone the keys to the kingdom (or the billing department). 🫣

We’ve officially launched Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in Tower to help you manage your team with more precision.

The Breakdown: Admin vs. Developer

We’re starting with two primary roles to keep things simple and effective:

• Admin: Full "God Mode." Admins can manage team members, change roles, and handle all settings. 🐲

• Developer: The "builder" role. Developers have full access to create and update API keys, apps, schedules, and secrets. However, they have read-only access to catalogs and environments and cannot manage team membership. 🧑‍💻

Pro-Tip: Set Up a Team

At the moment, RBAC applies to Teams, not your default account. However, in the very near future we will be changing that to streamline the process of assigning roles. Stay tuned for more details when that announcement comes! 👀
