At Tower, our architecture relies on a strict separation between the control plane (where orchestration decisions happen) and the data plane (where your Python apps actually run and process data). This flexible design allows us to bring the compute directly to where your data lives. Today, we are thrilled to announce our newest global expansion: the AWS eu-west-1 data plane, located in Dublin, Ireland, is now generally available.
Why We Built This
If your core databases or S3 buckets live in Ireland, piping massive datasets across regions introduces unnecessary transit times and extra costs. By executing your Tower workloads directly within AWS eu-west-1, you can:
- Eliminate cross-region egress fees associated with transferring data out of the Dublin region.
- Drastically slash latency by keeping your compute right next to your data.
- Meet strict data residency requirements by ensuring your data processing stays completely within local borders.
How to Enable It
Switching your execution region requires zero heavy lifting and is available to all teams immediately:
- Navigate to your Team Settings in the Tower app.
- Locate the Execution Region option.
- Select AWS eu-west-1 from the dropdown.
All future runs will instantly route to the new Dublin data plane—giving your data pipelines an immediate performance boost. (Though we promise our infrastructure's high availability relies strictly on robust engineering, rather than the luck of the Irish!)
